In Atlanta, Trump is launching a TV advertisement criticizing the DA who is looking into him.
Atlanta is one of the markets where the new advertisement is running. It features pictures of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
In an advertisement running on television in Atlanta and other TV markets, Donald Trump criticizes the Fulton County district attorney who is preparing to indict the former president for a fourth time.
The one-minute political advertisement will broadcast nationwide as well as in Atlanta, New York, and Washington, D.C., a Trump campaign aide informed NBC News. Trump is already indicted in New York and Washington, and a grand jury in Atlanta will hear charges from a connected probe next week, according to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
The campaign’s latest advertisement, which was launched on Sunday, accuses Willis of prior misdeeds. Additionally, it lists the lawyers who have already filed criminal charges against Trump, including Special Counsel Jack Smith and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
According to the advertising tracking company AdImpact, Trump’s team has scheduled advertising in Atlanta for Wednesday through Sunday.
Willis told her team in an email on Wednesday to refrain from discussing the advertisement on social media.
She instructed in the email acquired by NBC News after filing an open records request that “you may not comment in any way on the ad or any of the negativity that may be expressed against me, your coworkers, or this office in coming days, weeks, or months.”
Additionally, Willis denounced the advertisement as “derogatory and false” and advised her workers to stay on task. We must do our task, she wrote. I don’t care about the calls, emails, or advertisements, and you shouldn’t either.
Trump increased his venomous tone during remarks in Windham, New Hampshire, on Tuesday following the announcement of his third indictment. I regret not being able to travel to Iowa today. In an apparent allusion to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Trump stated, “I won’t be able to go to New Hampshire today because I’m sitting in a courtroom on bulls— because his attorney general charged me with something.
An NBC News Political Unit analysis of Trump’s fundraising around his first two indictments found those time periods corresponded with a significant uptick in fundraising by Trump’s political organization.
The former president, who has pleaded not guilty in all the cases where he’s been charged, said over the weekend that he touts his indictments like a badge of honor, arguing they have only improved his standing with Republican voters.
“We need one more indictment to close out this election, one more indictment, and this election is closed out.”
When it comes to fundraising, Trump’s political organization saw a large increase around the time of his first two indictments, according to an analysis by the NBC News Political Unit.
The former president, who has entered not guilty pleas in each of the instances in which he is accused, claimed over the weekend that he wears his indictments as a badge of honor and that they have only helped his reputation with Republican supporters.
“This election must receive one more indictment before it is declared over,” the speaker said.
