Harrison Floyd News

The defendant in the Georgia election interference case had previously been accused of assaulting an FBI agent.

Harrison Floyd, one of the 18 co-defendants in the Georgia 2020 election subversion case brought against President Donald Trump, was charged in May with assaulting an FBI agent who was delivering to him a subpoena to appear before a federal grand jury in Washington, DC.

On February 23, Floyd allegedly threatened two FBI agents who delivered the subpoena to him at his apartment in Rockville, Maryland by pursuing them and “striking” one agent “chest to chest,” according to an affidavit.

Floyd, a founder of Black Voices for Trump, is accused of simply assaulting a federal agent.

Floyd was being summoned to appear before a grand jury set up by special counsel Jack Smith to look into attempts to rig the 2020 election, according to The Washington Post, which broke the news of his arrest first.

The FBI officers served Floyd with the subpoena after allegedly following him up a staircase without identifying themselves or producing their identity, according to the affidavit.

Although the agents claimed in the affidavit that they displayed their FBI credentials and explained they were there to serve Floyd with a grand jury subpoena, Floyd is reported to have yelled at the officers at one point in the interaction to “get out” and to “back away,” screaming that he didn’t know who they were.

According to the affidavit, the cops indicated that they were backing away before departing.

Floyd claimed to authorities that the two agents had “accosted” him after the event, which the agents denied, according to the affidavit. Floyd then phoned the police.

According to the affidavit, Floyd also admitted to the police that he “almost went for it” when he noticed that one of the men was holding a gun. Floyd also said that after putting down his daughter, who he was with, he closed his apartment door behind the two agents so he could “get a weapon” from his kitchen.

The cops “were lucky I didn’t have a gun on me, because I would have shot” one of the agents, Floyd allegedly said in the affidavit.

In a separate investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney investigating attempts to rig the state’s election, Floyd is accused of breaking Georgia’s racketeering law, conspiring to solicit false statements and writings, and trying to influence witnesses.

As previously reported by CNN, Trevian Kutti, a former publicist for musicians R. Kelly and Kanye West, and Ruby Freeman, a Fulton County election worker, met as a result of an arrangement made by Floyd. Kutti is accused of pressuring and threatening Freeman at the encounter, which the police secretly videotaped, using unfounded allegations that she was complicit in voter fraud.
