When she started making regular appearances on Nine O’Clock News on BBC One in 1975, she became the first female journalist to permanently present national television news on the BBC. Rippon has had a varied career that includes presenting Top Gear, Come Dancing, and the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. She also co-founded TV-am, a franchised breakfast television station, and served as its host. Rippon is the author of fourteen novels in addition to performing on stage with Anything Goes and making appearances on several television shows. She frequently fills in for Alastair Stewart as a broadcaster on GB News and presently co-presents Rip Off Britain and Holiday Hit Squad on the BBC.
