Leanne Morgan News

According to Leanne Morgan, who calls herself the “Mrs. Maisel of Appalachia,” men used to say that “women aren’t funny.” For 22 years, Leanne Morgan has delighted her audience with banal humor. The comedian is now sharing her journey into the comedy industry.

Leanne Morgan has delighted audiences with her razor-sharp wit and humorous reflections on her life ever since she started working as a professional comedian more than 20 years ago. The comedian acknowledges that it hasn’t always been simple; prior to rising to become one of the most recognizable faces in the industry today, she was an ordinary housewife in the 1990s.

Leanne Morgan discusses her experience openly.

When Leanne Morgan made a woman at a party laugh so hard that she “peeped on the couch,” she got the idea that she could excel in stand-up comedy, according to Leanne Morgan, who told WJCT that this was how her career in comedy unexpectedly began. At first, she attempted to make some extra cash by selling jewelry at the houses of her acquaintances, but unintentionally made them laugh by making jokes about breastfeeding and hemorrhoids.

She finally began performing stand-up in bars, where she had offers for sitcom deals that, tragically, didn’t pan out. A video of her and her husband cracking jokes about going to a Def Leppard/Journey concert went viral, saving her comedy career as she was about to give up in 2018. She made one more try and hired social media gurus.

She allegedly told WJCT, “That blew up, and I started selling out all over the United States.” People would call comedy clubs to seek my booking after viewing those videos.

The comic admitted that it took her some time to gain a following. She added, “But I always knew they were out there. Hollywood, in my opinion, ignores us, and I think that a lot of cool, edgy, and all that kinds of comedians just ignore my audience, which I think is the best.

Leanne Morgan makes a reference to the Appalachian Mrs. Maisel.

“Comedy is hard. It’s a hard business,” the 53-year-old said. Midge, the Marvellous Mrs. Maisel star, connected with the comedian. The woman said, “I related to her persona because she was bold, had those kids, and had a ding dong for a husband.” Even though Morgan’s hubby isn’t a “ding dong,” she made it obvious that she had to overcome a variety of challenges.

“Men would say, ‘Oh, women aren’t funny,’ and all that kind of stuff,” the cartoonist claims, “and they would try to sabotage her.” She affirmed, “I’ve been through all that.”

“I do find humor in difficult situations, but I think many comedians do,” Morgan added in the interim. That’s how we function.
